A Little Help From My Friends - The Beatles
With Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Beatles successfully help create the concept of the musical alter-ego. Sasha Fierce would not exist if it was not for John, Paul, George and Ringo. Yes. I went there.
Personally, Sgt. Pepper’s is my favorite album to listen to all the way through, no skipping tracks, in order. Have you ever listened to a recording of a live concert? It’s such an experience to listen to it the whole way through, like you were almost there. Well, I feel the same about this album.
This track is sung by Billy Shields, a.k.a. Ringo Star. Now, while a certain Monday panelist whose name might rhyme with Mandrew has issue with Ringo, I find his story to be fascinating. He spent the majority of his childhood in the hospital sick, and ended up being in one of the most influential bands of the century. If you do have the time I suggest you 1) listen to Sgt. Pepper’s all the way through and 2) have some Ringo appreciation time and look up his bio.
Enjoy!
